Lightbulb What Avertising Works Best?

Guys have any advice on what advertising works the best to share with the forum? I get alot of people asking me about this. I tell them about my experiences and what works best for me. Just want to get a few more angles on advertising.

Default advertising

I have tried all kinds of ways from flyer rolled up and putin the door to knocking on doors to the news paper. But the 2 ways i found to be the most effective were 1. going to a printshop and getting doorhangers made. then getting my nephews to put them out in target neiborhoods on BIKE. this makes it 5 times faster.
2. I have frisbees made with our name and logo then drive through the neiborhood and toss away. (drawback to this is not to do it on a weekend cause the neiborhood kids will take every one!)
I hope this helps someone!

My idea is pretty basic but has brought me awsome results. We have service directory in our local paper. For $120 you can run an ad for a month. The key is to be first, they do it alphabetically. I usually use something like Affordable, or A+ service to be up top, corny but it works. I've gotten alot of calls out of it. I would say 60% of my current customer base came out of it the other 40% through referals.

Default door hangers

Hi,
I'm really glad to see that you are as ambitious as you seem at the age of 15. I've been in this business for 18 years now and have only met one person locally that was as determined as you at your age. Just as an incentive to you he is currently netting around $300,000.00 per year, and turned 25 this year! And the really amazing thing is that he sells off about 1/2 of his accounts appx. every 4 years. He sells them for 50 to 75 thousand and in about a year builds the accounts back up to the point which he was at when he sold. GOOD LUCK and keep your determination. As for door hangers if you have an office depot near you they use to have pretty good prices for printing door hangers, at least they were the lowest in my area. also you can check on e-bay for companys listing business cards. Many of them have contact addresses to reach them, and they will gladly give you prices on items other than business cards. Some of these companys have very good prices and if their not in your state you also save by not having to pay tax on your purchase. One more piece of advice, If you really want to have a professional appearance for your business, consider contracting with a uniform service. If you have guys working for you it is the cheapest way to maintain a pro appearance and also gain advertising at the same time. I deal with Aramark, they are the largest uniform service provider in the U.S. They provide my guys with 11 sets of uniforms each, and pick up and wash them weekly, ( your mother will love this service), and it only cost $6.00 per week per employee. ( you can even hold payment out of your guys pay each week to pay for the service). Well, this is just a little advice from an old timer. GOOD LUCK AND KEEP YOUR BLADES SHARP! H. Lewis

Hi, I ordered our uniform shirts at $15 each, which included embroidery on the left chest. They are really nice, and we have receive comments on them every day since we ordered them. Thanks for your input on the door hangers, I think I'll buy them on ebay, as I have been selling and buying for the past 6 years there as well. They have proven to be great to me!! Thanks for your advice!,

Arrow Graphic design

I do a lot of graphic design such as business cards and flyers. If you would be interested in something like that, I could whip something up for you with suggestions on where to advertise. My style and design behind my ad's are to make your business succeed by grabbing your viewers eyes, and leading them to action.
Depending on what you want, I would probably graphics for free or a small fee to offset my time.

I made my door hanger sheet (2 door hanger to a sheet) on my computer and then went to Kinkos and had them print out 100 sheets. This cost about ten dollars, and they helped me cut the sheets in half.
