Post Your mower

did you really by that mower? Why would you have bought it and not a regular tractor, z-turn, or walk behind?

but pretty funny

Default yup!

Wierd response tjslawncare.. Why yes, I did buy it... Did you think I gave birth to it?

I didn't get a tractor because they seem clunky with a sh*tty turning radius, & I have aot of trees.. I didn't get a z-turn for the same reason I don't drive a mercedes. They are expensive. And I didn't get another walk behind for the same reason other people buy riding mowers.. So I don't have to walk behind it.

To my shigrin, the sub-par front wheels buckled when I came down a SLIGHT incline while turning. Sears dropped off a new one today.. If I have any, even the slightest problem with it I'm getting my money back. This experience was beyond disappointing.

Anyway, I mowed with it today and it almost happened again! I came down the incline turning ever so slightly & the wheels damn near turned INWARD... I guess its the downfall of a super sharp turning radius on a mower thats not a z-turn.

Anyway, I'll post again if I have any further craftsmen headaches.. But from my experience thus far.. They completely suck.

same reason I got rid of my craftsman junk. YOu can't beat the hand tools and the old Craftsman mowers of 25 and 30 years ago were awesome too. Shows what you get when a big company outsources to save money. I bought a 20 hp 50" tractor thinking I was saving $1000's. However, the deck spindles had PLASTIC bearings and were SHOT after about 300 hours of operation. No grease fittings either although I don't really know what advantage grease would have on plastic in the first place. You mentioned the cost of zero turns. Check around. The prices of the home owner models have come down considerably. I am ASSUMING that you are using this mower for home owner purposes. I would hate to think you bought that Sears piece of junk to mow for the public. If you have a Tractor Supply Co nearby, they handle Cub Cadet which makes a reasonably priced Zero Turn. I believe Low's carries them as well. I memory serves correct. You can get on a Cub zero turn from one of these reatailers for around $2200. CHEAP for what you get. I would chalk you experience up with the Craftsman mower the same way I did, an expenesive learning experience!

Default craftsman mowers

I have worked at sears for season 5 yrs now. There mowers now are not as great as they use to be. Yes commercial mowers are expensive but I would not recomend there zero turn mowers. I would buy a gravely,or a toro. Pay more on price for a better built mower. Ohh by the way, good luck if you have it repaired by them. It will cost alot of money and it might not be fixed right the first time. If you got a pa (Placement agreement) then they look at the hours to determine if you used it commercial. Hopefully you dont use the mower to mow your yard more than once a week and for a big yard with alot of hours on it, they will try to pull one on you. They didnt look at other zero turn mowers when they placed them on market. Salesman will do there best to talk you into buying one due to the fact they get more of a commission on the zero turn mowers. They will tell you what you want to hear, just so you buy one. Pay for what you get! Pay cheap get cheap results.
