I need to get a new weedwhacker as I feel that mine is going to be useless within a few weeks. I'm going to put it in the shop, but it takes 3-5 weeks to get it back! Therefore...I need to buy myself a new one to use until then. I want to get a commercial weedwhacker to handle the beating of 40 lawns a week. I went from 4 lawns to 12 lawns a week this past month, and plan on getting 40 by the end of the summer...so I need a good one that will last me ages. Does anyone have any good suggestions? I'm looking for a price range of under 400 dollars. Thanks!

I've had troubles with my trimmers (home owner ryobe's i've used for a few years) and by just tweaking the carbs a little bit they've kept running fine. But for $200 (at my local home depot) I've been tempted just to pick one up with an extra head to save time from respooling or switching trimmers. yet the main deal would be that they weigh less and less finiking around with them.

Just filling everyone in. I purchased a ECHO SRM230 from my local HOME DEPOT. It costs 269.99 before taxes and is 100% WORTH THAT PLUS MORE! I've been using it for a while now, and absolutely LOVE it!

Rule number #1
Echo is the only trimmer worth anything at home depot. Time is money. If you buy cheap equipment you'll waste more time getting it fixed when you could be making $35-60 and hour on your lawns.

My rule #1 is that anything you can get from home depot is crap, Accept for an echo cs300 chainsaw, Everything else is the homeowner grade line, I personally think the shindaiwa T260 is the best machine out there, Although the pricetag will set you back about $320 depending on where you go, it will defenatly outlive any wacker you could possibly buy from home depot. Although I have been fond of stihl wackers and Just purchased a FS80 I would probably get the Shindaiwa the next time around.

For my 2 cents worth shindaiwa is a really good trimmer. i have had one of my trimmers a T27 for about 6-8 years now and i still use it and it is a backup on my trailer. i haven't had it in the shop yet besides from the regular maintenance. so for what it is worth i would recommend the 260 or the 3410 by shindaiwa. they are more expensive than a echo but they are well worth it and will last forever.

I bought an Echo SRM 2601 about 5 years ago and have just now had to replace the fuel filter. It is a little heavy, but just as was stated above, you get what you pay for. Heavy built equipent will hold up better. I too went ahead and invested a little more money into an entire bump feed head that I keep wound with line. Two full heads of line usually last me a week or more and when one runs out, I just pop off the empty and replace it with a full one. I can always rewind them at the end of the day of when it rains. I always use a rule of thumb when buying equipment: it the machine cannot be serviced on site where you buy it, you might not want to buy there...i.e. Lowe's Home Depot WALMART TSC
