Default money.....

How much can you really make by cutting yards? Is it possible to make over 50k a year? Share how many clients you have and what you expect to make this year....us newbies are dying to know.

Default 50k?

Around my area, there are multiple companies i know of that make 100+k a year, but remember overhead of machinery and crews. I think the key is to get 2 years or more of business in college and if desired continue on lawncare if it is desirable. That's what those guys in my area did.
But with management skills, you are not limited by the number of lawns you can mow a year but instead by how well you can manage crews and expand while keeping a high standard and happy customers/reputation.
I went to Belize for 12 days and had to write out 25 customers worth of instructions, locations, directions specific to them, schedule and more for 3 people sharing my mowers. It was amazingly horrible and difficult to do it, but it really showed me how poor of a manager i am right now. Also, now that i've found ways to be more organized, i've realized that really i could be personally doing 50+ lawns a week by myself until school comes this fall - if i ran my business strictly and systematically

This is mine as of this year.

1 @ 35 cut and trim
2 @ 20 cut and trim
3 @ 15 cut and trim
4 @ 80 from June 15th - August 1st cut and trim" 5 times "
5 @ 10 cut and trim
6 @ 13.75 cut and trim
once a week

out of that i would be buying fuel/oil, employee for the day etc...and still paying off my loan for the mower and trimmer.

You could easily mow 10 yards (average size) per day, around here that is $25-$35. Average $300 a day X 5 days is $1500 week. That would be close to $50k. I think this could be done by a single person. When you start adding employees your costs go through the roof!!

Biggest issue: Insurance and benifits!

Your better off getting a job that has benefits and mowing on the side, You should be able to make $1k to 2K a month depending on how much work you want to do!
