Arrow Hydros: Problems, fix its, tips on maintenance

On my Lesco Viper (ZTR RIDER) 2001 48" my left hydro is a little bit weaker than my right one. It is especially noticable when i am backing up, but also somewhat when in the forward direction. Is there a way to adjust the "flow" or something along that line to increase it both ways at once?
Another thing, about maintenance... I've noticed that grass has a tendency to get blown up and stuck in and around the hydro's. Is this harmful in any way as long as the "cooling vents" are open? (and assuming i change the oil and filter on schedule)
And last thing, are all hydro's glitchy in reverse? mine seems really grabby in reverse. Does any one know what i'm talking about or have any fix it ideas?
Thanks much
