Default Ribbed tread Vs. smooth...

I need to know what difference(s), if any, ribbed tread front caster tires would make Vs. smooth tires.
My mower is a 52" Scag Turf Tiger. I need new front tires and have a chance to save a few $ on a pair of new Carlisle ribbed tires.

Is there any real noticible difference in the two?

Thanks!
Kevin

Kevin,

I have not run different caster tires on a ZTR, but I have on walk behinds and I have seen no difference in quality of cut, or manuerverability, or any other aspect. If you can save money do it. Alot of local tire shops have in stock or can order the tires for a mower. Keep that in mind. You may save some money through them. By the way, I like the name.

Thanks Kevin.

I didn't think there could be very much difference between the two, but it's reassuring to hear it from someone else.

I can get the ribbed tires for less than half the price of the smooth ...I think I may give 'em a try.

Also, I'm glad you like the name!
