hello everyone. my dad has this old 60'' walk behind in his back yard that he found somewere?????? and since i started my lawn care biz he has been telling me to take and get it running ,but this thing is old i mean realy old the way it looks its been sitting up for at least 5 years and its older than that ,my question is this .is even worth messing with the deck and all is still good. it just needs motor electical work belts and pullies that need to be replaced .i can do all this my self but im not sure i should even bother becouse i dont have a need for it yet ,but soon i know i willhow much money are we talking about to rebuild the entire thing ?

Southernslang,
I would not waste the time and money rebuilding. If you look, you can find a walk behind for around $800 that will more than likely be a better fit. You could end up spendind money on this mower and it still not work correctly. Imagine spending money on the engine, then find that the transmission is not so good. Bad move. Just my opinion. Kevin

thats exactly what i was thinking,but my father is a presistant freak,when he wants someone else to spend there time and money ,but it has a good deck he says over and over like a broken record .but anywho thanks for the advice.

When I was working manageing an orchard not far from where i live ,i came across this self driven mower rover(about 20yrs old).seized said my boss at the time,so I said could I buy it for 50-100$.He told me I could have it and good luck in getting it going so I took it home.1 Sunday I pulled it all apart to see how it worked.Cleaned all the valves and gave the cylinder an acid bath.Then attempted to put it back together.Once i did poured some petrol and a bit of oil gave it a ripe and away she fired.So then I traded it for a push Honda.What a bargain and a great learning lesson.

not sure of the name brand, there aren't any labels or anything on it that i can see but i'll realy look tomorow.
