Default Hey everyone!

I just signed up today.

I'm new to the lawn service...I started my (part-time) business in July of this year. I'm a professional firefighter (14 years) and I have operated my own construction/remodeling business for nearly 25 years, and I am pretty much burned out on swinging a hammer and all of the associated headaches!

I bought some good used Scag and Echo commercial equipment that need only a few minor repairs to get them back into excellent condition, and a new 8x20 enclosed trailer to haul/secure it all.

So far I have a few residential accounts in my neighborhood, and have a few commercial bids out. I'm only looking to get around 12-15 good accounts. I think that'll keep me busy enough as I'm only planning on mowing maybe two days per week max.

I have printed a few fliers and made some business cards, but that has been the extent of my advertising thus far.

I plan on checking in on this site fairly often and hope to glean some great tips and info.

Here's a list of some of my equipment (so far ):

Scag Turf Tiger 52" w/Kawasaki 22 hp liquid cooled engine
Scag 36" walk behind w/ single wheel velke
Husqvarna/Honda 21" self-propelled convertible mulcher/bagger
Echo trimmer
Echo edger
Echo hedge trimmer
Echo pole saw
Echo backpack blower
Solo backpack sprayer
Scott's spreader
Poulan chain saw
Various other hand and garden tools

I'm looking forward to hearing from all of you!

Oh, and since my last name is Coffey, the only possible choice for a business name was "Coffey Groundskeeping", with the motto: "Let us perk up your yard!" I think it's kinda catchy.

Default hey everyone

I have been on the fire dept. 5 yrs. I was lucky a few times to be in the area or passing through to go to some fire calls. In my area in NC, there is at least 1-2 people in each fire dept that cuts grass. In my dept. there is me-full time 1-part time and 2 others just do a few accounts on the side. It is good money but have to stick to it. Be careful cause you can get too many than it will over take the time for the fire dept. Least you can go to more calls & classes during winter time. GOOD LUCK!
