Smile New in N.Z.

Hey there,
My wife and I found your site a couple of days ago and thought what a great idea. Don't think we have anything like it here in New Zealand. We started our lawnmowing business about 8 months ago and we are doing ok.
It was quite a struggle to begin with and we had no money for advertising, just word of mouth. It also helped to get our faces known around town by delivering newspapers and organising a fundraising event for the Leukaemia Foundation. People would recognise us with our shaved heads(fundraiser) especially my wife, we even managed to get a little publicity in the local paper for this event. Nobody could make the mistake of not knowing who two bald heads were behind the lawnmowers. We only had 1 lawnmower, 1 weedeater, chainsaw and a blower, plus a few handtools. We now have 3 lawnmowers (1 being a two stroke and the others are four stroke). My wife works partime with me when she doesn't have to look after the children ( 1 at school, 2 preschool). We are trying to generate new business and are looking for any ideas. Still have no money for advertising but have put out some fliers. We are picking up on average 1 new contract every three days, just by working every day we possibly can, even weekends. Best move we ever made was to start our own business, even though you worry sometimes about being able to meet all your commitments. Really glad we stumbled on your site and look forward to learning from everyone out there.

Thank you for becoming a member. I hear New Zealand is a great place. All my friends who travel there speak highly of that country. As far as starting your own business, I am always happy to hear people changing their mindset and going off on their own. There is an alternative to the 40 hour week. I hope my site helps you in many ways.

Best of luck,
Kevin
